The Palazzo Cavalli of Venice
Civil weddings in Venice are performed in the 16th Century Renaissance Palazzo Cavalli right off the Gran Canal, complete with elegant marble staircase. This may very well be Italy’s most famous wedding hall. The City of Venice purchased the private palace for the sole purpose of celebrating civil weddings. From its upper floor balcony you will enjoy stunning views of the Gran Canal and the Rialto Bridge which your wedding photographer will immortalize.The bride can arrive in a gondola; an appropriate landing is provided. Antique paintings and furnishings decorate the Palace throughout and frescoes adorn the walls.

Civil Weddings on the Island of Murano, (Venice)
A second civil location is available for Venice, in a beautiful ancient Venetian Palace on the charming island of Murano, famous for its glass blowing artistry. Built between the 12th and 13th century it is a gorgeous example of Byzantine architecture.

The island is only a short boat ride from Venice, one mile north of the city. The Murano Civil Wedding Hall enjoys similar architecture and style to that of Palazzo Cavalli. It also overlooks the Murano Gran Canal and has a panoramic balcony.

We believe you will love this location just as much as that of Palazzo Cavalli and marrying on the Island of Murano guarantees privacy, elegance, and charm. The Murano wedding hall will easily accommodate larger groups of up to 80 guests.

• The city of Venice offers some of the most ancient and splendid churches for a catholic marriage ceremony in Italy; from the Byzantine basilica of St. Mark, to the Palladian masterpiece of the Chiesa del Redentore. The bride can arrive in a gondola or motor boat and the churches are located in the most scenic parts of Venice. 

  St. Mark’s Basilica
  The ornate, Byzantine Basilica of San Marco is the principal church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice but was originally built as the private chapel of the Doge’s; the rulers of Venice. It was eventually nicknamed the Chiesa D’Oro (the gold church) due to its ornate gold mosaics. The outer and inner gilding's are representative of the richness of Venice when it ruled the Spice Route and was one of the wealthiest cities in the world. Subsequent additions continued the embellishment until the 1800’s and today it remains one of the world’s most elaborate cathedrals, both inside and out.

  Chiesa del Redentore
  The Chiesa del Redentore - The church of the Redeemer was built in the 16th century and was commission by the city in gratitude for its deliverance from the plague. The church features some of the greatest Venetian artists such as Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese and Francesco Bassano. The architect Palladio designed the church as a single nave with three chapels on each side. Vaulted arches are supported by intricately carved Corinthian columns which create a dramatic effect. The Chiesa del Redentore is situated in a highly prominent position on the Guidecca Canal. Palladio was inspired by the Parthenon of Athens in designing the facade and the church was built at the apex of the architect’s significant career. The Chiesa del Redentore is quite magnificent both inside and out and can hold very large groups of up to 300. A wonderful venue for couples wishing to get married in a catholic wedding in Venice.

  A catholic wedding in Venice can be either a religious blessing or be legally binding. Specific paperwork applies in either case and no weddings can be performed during Lent, Easter and specific religious holidays. Sacred music only.
