This beautiful and well-preserved castle dates back to the 1400's and is surrounded by a park of more than 130 hectares. During the Middle Ages, the castle was crucial for the defense of Florence during its feuds with the city of Siena.
During its long and glorious history, the castle has hosted various famous artists, including Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo stayed at the castle while painting his masterpiece, Monna Lisa, and he also drew a charming and impressive picture that is still preserved among his personal documents.
