We fell in love with Pienza in 1998, while exploring the smaller medieval towns of Tuscany searching for an intimate and romantic Tuscan wedding location.    Pienza, stole our hearts at first glance and is a gorgeous location for a destination wedding in Tuscany.  It is one of the most perfectly designed Renaissance towns in Italy, built on a hill and surrounded by walls in the middle of the Val d’Orcia - the Orcia Valley.  The Valley is now a National Park and the encompassing views from the beautifully named Via dell’Amore (the Path of Love) are stunning, creating an unforgettable background for your wedding photos.  The town owes its design to Enea Silvio Piccolomini who in 1458 became Pope II and commissioned Florentine architect Bernardo Gambarelli (also known as Bernardo Rossellino) to redesign the town which was originally named Corsignano.   A native of Pienza, Pope II transformed his home town into a magnificent Renaissance masterpiece.  Pienza is located south of Tuscany, approximately 2 hours from Florence and 1 hour from Siena.
