The beautiful walled city of Lucca is one of Tuscany’s most perfectly preserved 16th century cities, situated in the Northern part of Tuscany. It is particularly famous for the number of churches it contains, 99 to be exact, each more elaborate than the other. The most famous is the church of San Frediano on the Piazza San Frediano, with an incredible 14th century mosaic facade. The interior holds precious works by Jacopo della Quercia. Lucca is the home of the opera composer Giacomo Puccini and it was in Lucca that Caesar, Pompey and Crassus formed the historical triumvirate. Traces of an old Roman amphitheatre can be found on the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro Romano.

The town is encircled by perfectly kept walls which are wide enough for a panoramic stroll or even bicycling, enjoying the incredible views. Inside the walls, automobiles have restricted traffic allowing for leisurely walks exploring the beautiful cobbled streets. Nothing much seems to have changed for centuries, the locals are quite hospitable and the pace is relaxed.

Lucca’s olive oil is highly prized and one of the many wonderful ingredients in the local cuisine which you will be able to savor during your wedding reception in Lucca’s amazing restaurants and surrounding villas and castles. Lucca’s elegant villas are re known throughout Italy and many are available for both civil ceremonies and receptions. Some are private, while others are luxury hotels and we have picked only the finest for your wedding event in Lucca.

Get married in the elegant city of Lucca, the perfect location for a destination wedding in Tuscany.
